When converting .shp/.shx's to blocks with attributes into AutoCAD Map 2004, the blocks and attributes display OK. I can niether change color nor layer of the blocks. It indicates that I have done so on the "Properties" panel, but they have not changed. Additionally, the attribute toolbar functions do not recognize there are blocks with attributes, however, keyboard commands such as "battman" does.

Hi,
In the next software update (start of next week) we will change the Color and Layer of entities inside Blocks to have 'ByBlock' Color and Layer. This will work such that if you change the Color or Layer of the Block, then all entities inside the Block will also get changed, which only makes sense, and thanks for bringing it to our attention!
With regards to the Attributes toolbar not recognizing Blocks with Attributes, I don't know the reason. The version of Map that we have here does not seem to have an Attributes toolbar so it is bit hard to experiment. One way to examine the attributes of a Block (if they are not already visible, and you don't want to make them visible) is via 'Properties' of the Block. The Attributes will list at the bottom of the floating Properties sheet. (See attached Pic.)
best regards,

Hi,
A new software update 4.0 A.28 is now ready.
http://www.guthcad.com/download.htm
It should hopefully resolve both issues.
Changes are:
(1) Set Color and Layer of entities inside Blocks to have the 'ByBlock' Color and Layer, thus allowing change of Color and Layer of all entities within the Block by changing the Block (how it should have worked in any case.)
(2) Allow editting of Attributes via the AutoCAD 'Enhanced Attribute Editor' (_eattedit). (Was previously prevented by Blocks being flagged as having constant attributes.)
best regards,
