Hi,
I have just installed CAD Viewer 5.0. I am trying to view a drawing called RIVERSIDE-3.DWG, but I get this message.
Warning: Xref not found
Could not find Xref "H:\SHARED\AUTOCADARCHIVES\RIVERSIDE\XREF\X1123-THINBORDER.DWG" at the given path, or in the current directory, or in the Xref Search Paths.
Try and locate in via File Browse? What does it mean?
thanks

Hi,
re.
Basically it means what it says (but maybe substitute the word 'folder' for 'directory' in the message above for more recent terminology.)
In more detail:
'Xref' is AutoCAD's short terminology for an 'Externally Referenced' drawing - it is where one drawing is referenced (inserted) within another drawing. In this case the drawing that you are trying to load 'RIVERSIDE-3.DWG' is referencing the drawing 'X1123-THINBORDER.DWG'.
However CAD Viewer is reporting that X1123-THINBORDER.DWG cannot be found at the path given inside the drawing ("H:\SHARED\AUTOCADARCHIVES\RIVERSIDE\XREF\X1123-THINBORDER.DWG"), nor can it be found in the current folder (i.e. the same folder as the parent drawing), nor can it be found in the Xref Search Paths (the Xref Search Paths is a list of folders that CAD Viewer looks in to locate Xref drawings.)
It is possible that X1123-THINBORDER.DWG is located somewhere on your system. If you believe so, use the File Browse to locate it. After it has been located CAD Viewer will ask whether the folder should be added to the Xref Search Paths so that CAD Viewer can automatically find it future (and hence also stop the warning message in future.)
best regards,
