View Full Version : Shape to DXF point file issue

Gidday

Am working my way through a number of Shape to DXF file to CAD conversions and all went well until I started on point features such as the attached one.

This one is from VicMap supplied Shape file hy_water_point (attached). As with all the conversions I am limiting the output region and using the FTYPE code to get a layer per attribute. CADViewer seems to display the DXF file OK (seem to be only dam features in my map region).

Yet when I try and convert the symbol or layer in my CAD software (OCAD) it does not recognise the features as point features. And unlike previous imports there is no layer name - just layer 0.

Am I missing something please?

Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

Are you able to upload the shapefile as an attachment? Please zip the .SHP + .SHX + .DBF files into a single file. Click the 'Manage Attachments' buttons to upload the zip file.

Alternatively just email it to me.

thanks,
Paul Guthrie

Sorry Paul - I forgot the .dbf and .shx. All attached now.

I should also have mentioned that I tried to transform two other Shape point files from the VicMap dataset and got the same result.

It may be the OCAD software but the un-named layer makes me wonder. Probably something very obvious - just not to me.

I'm not in any hurry for this as won't have a chance to look at it again before next weekend.

Regards
Ken

Ken,

For some reason I cannot see any attachments. It might be that the forum settings does not permit .SHX, .DBF, .SHP. (I'll organize to get that changed.) However I know a ZIP file is allowed. Are you able to attach as a single ZIP file (containing the .SHP + .SHX + .DBF)?

Paul
