I have installed CadViewer v5 on a range of PCs from Win98 to WinXP, and our AutoCad drawings are from 2000 versions of AutoCad and AutoCad LT. (They still work for us, why would I want to buy the latest versions ?)

Forgive my ignorance on AutoCad, but it seems our AutoCad drawings usually have 2 Xrefs, one to a border, and the other to some standard text with copyright and tolerance notes.

I do not seem to get consistent results when opening drawings in CadViewer, some will pull in both xrefs but some will only pull in one. I suspect that XP will pull in both, but Win98 sometimes only pulls in one.

i have tried clearing the xref cache without success

Any ideas ?

I know this bit is an AutoCad question, but here goes: Is there a method of relinking all AutoCad drawings to new Xrefs ?

Hi,

I have installed CadViewer v5 on a range of PCs from Win98 to WinXP, and our AutoCad drawings are from 2000 versions of AutoCad and AutoCad LT. (They still work for us, why would I want to buy the latest versions ?)
All new updates of CAD Viewer 5 are available for free for 12 months from the date of purchase. So you just need to download the latest software from the CAD Viewer download page. (http://www.guthcad.com/dlviewer.htm) It is always recommended to download the latest software if you are experiencing a software problem.

(About software upgrades generally, if your current software is doing all that you need it to, then I would tend to agree that it is not necessary to buy the latest software upgrade just because there is a new version!)

I do not seem to get consistent results when opening drawings in CadViewer, some will pull in both xrefs but some will only pull in one. I suspect that XP will pull in both, but Win98 sometimes only pulls in one.

i have tried clearing the xref cache without success

Any ideas ?Maybe try turning off the xref cache altogether. (Clear it first.)

If that does not fix it, try to identify a repeatable scenario for the problem to occur, and if possible forward the drawing(s) and Xrefs involved so that we can try and repeat the problem here.

I know this bit is an AutoCad question, but here goes: Is there a method of relinking all AutoCad drawings to new Xrefs ? I suspect that there is no automatic way of doing it.
