I am having trouble converting a shapefile to .dwg. The software stalls at 80% and continues working but never finishes. I left it running over the weekend to see if that made a difference and it still had not completed.

The information for my software version is attached:

Arcv2CAD 5.0 Rev A.23 Shapefile to DXF/DWG Converter.

Select a file for conversion

Shapefile: Landsurvey_Sections_Poly_IN.shp

Layers keyed to TYPE

Line color is pen 40

Fill color is pen 53

The file is of type Polygon with a Length of 5969044 and 37811 records. It works if I just convert without specifying features. However, it crashes if I select any option for feature attributes.

Hi,

Thanks for sending the shapefile.

A new software update here Arcv2CAD 5.0 A.25 (http://www.guthcad.com/download.htm) should fix the 'stall at 80%' problem.

The Arcv2CAD update should handle the translation of the complete set of features, both with the option of attaching directly to the polygons, or outputting separately attached to point 'Info' blocks.

However the version of AutoCAD that we tried (2005) did not seem to be able to handle the data in the case where the data is attached directly to the polygons (i.e. each polygon is output inside a Block, with the features data attached to each such Block as ATRRIBs). It did not have a problem where the data is attached to point INFO blocks. So the recommendation at this stage would be to go with the INFO block method for large data sets (or maybe it is ok with the latest AutoCAD , e.g. 2008)

best regards,
