Hello,

I've created a plt file using AutoCAD R2000, everything seemed to go fine and a plt file of about 2.5mb was created.

However when I open it in the viewer it comes up with the following error message:

"Software does not support en***ies in this drawing. Or drawing is empty."

I never used to have this problem and can't figure out what has changed since then that would cause this problem.

I can see any variables for created plt files in autocad, there is just a tick box for plot to file ?

Any idea's / suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

It's either not an HPGL plot file, or CAD Viewer is having a problem reading it for some other reason.

Is it possible for you to directly email me the plot file? (Zip up first is best.)

thanks,
Paul G.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

I've being looking into this since I posted yesterday and have made some progress but on the other hand I uncovered some more errors.

The error was got rid of by removing the drivers and reinstalling them. So I can now create a plot file that CAD Viewer can open.

The trouble now is that for some reason no text shows in it? If I print the plt file to my plotter it comes out fine and looks exactly like it should.

There are certain clues, which I’m hoping will help uncover the underlying problem.

1. If the plot is made from paper space the text is not visible, if its made from model space then it is visible
2. If the variable ‘textfill’ is changed from 1 to 0 the text (but only the outline is printed + visible)
3. Only this drawing exhibits this problem, if I create a blank drawing add text to it and then plot it’s fine.
4. If I copy a section of the drawing into a blank dwg file and try plotting it again it comes out fine. (If I copy the entire drawing to another dwg file the same error occurs)

Hopefully with the help of these pointers, somebody maybe able to help identify and fix this problem.

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

The driver that you are using is probably one that outputs TrueType text in HP-RTL (Raster Transfer Language). The current CAD Viewer software only supports pure HPGL or HPGL/2, and does not support the mixed HPGL / HP-RTL method that the newer HP drivers employ.

A CAD Viewer update a bit later this year will support the HPGL /HP-RTL method, but obviously is not a solution for you now.

The text that is affected is TrueType fonts text. So Text drawn in CAD fonts such as simplex.shx etc, will still be output.

A setting when plotting from AutoCAD that will make the text able to be read by the current CAD Viewer software can be found within the 'Plotter Configuration Editor' - hit the 'Properties' button of the plotter. In the 'Device and Document Settings' tab, under 'Graphics' the option can be found:

'TrueType as text'
'TrueType as graphics'

- select 'TrueType as graphics'

That should fix it.

best regards,
Paul G

Hello,

Excellent that sounds like the problem I'm getting.

Trouble is I have tried to fix it by the way you suggest however I don't have the TrueType option.

I'll email you some screenshots of the choices I have.

Any idea why it's missing ?

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for emailing the screenshot of your printer driver. I have attached a screenshot also of the driver we have here.

The only immediately obvious item that may account for the difference in drivers is that the one here is for a HP Designjet 650C (C2859A), whereas the yours is a 650C (C2859B). I don't know what the difference between the 'A' model and the 'B', but hopefully it may be of some help to you.
