The problem:
When CAD Viewer 4.0 is installed by an administrator on an XP system, a user with 'Restricted user' group membership cannot run the software.
All CAD Viewer versions 4.0 A.01 to A.144 are affected.
Reason that the problem occurs:
The user folder, which by default is installed as a sub-folder of the CAD Viewer installation folder has been restricted by the operating system to not allow write access by a Restricted user. CAD Viewer needs to have write access to this folder.
Solution 1:
A new update of the software will be available at the beginning of January 2006 to fix it.
Solution 2:
Change the security settings on the folder where CAD Viewer is installed to allow Restricted users write access. For example if the installation folder was "C:\cadviewer", then locate this folder via My Computer, and click 'Properties'. In the 'security' tab highlight the Restricted Users group (probably just called 'Users ..') and check the permissions setting 'Full Control' - 'Allow'.
