PDF-Output

I like the PDF output function in the software, however the printer name is somewhat problematic. Is it possible to remove the hyphen in the printer name? I have a software package here on my network which all users work in CONSTANTLY. A problem has been discovered when the users who have the CAD viewer software try to PRINT from this other software. The hyphen in the printer name causes the other software to crash and return various "stop errors". Even an ordinary space in the name would resolve it, but the end users don't have sufficient rights to change LOCAL printer names. I can rename each printer manually, but that adds a ton of extra work for me. Perhaps in a future release, could you change the PDF printer name to something a bit more "ancient-software-friendly"?

Ok, we will add the option in the next software update to allow an "ancient-software-friendly" printer name. Unfortunately the current software relies on the name in its present form, and if you were to rename it, the resultant PDF file would have 'DEMO' stamped across it.

Hi,

We have added in the option to allow PDF-Xchange printer to be renamed to the short name 'PDFX3' or 'PDFX3...'. It is available in version 4.0 A.148 or above, currently at the 'maintenance' link here.

You need to manually rename the PDF-Xchange printer in 'Printers' to match the above name.

Hi,

Just a further note to renaming the PDF-XChange printer driver. Unfortunately there is a limitation. Tracker Software have mandated that the first 12 characters of the driver must be "PDF-XChange " (including the trailing space character.) CAD Viewer will in fact still accept alternate short names beginning with the first 5 characters "PDFX3", but ...
(1) the driver must be accessed via the 'Print' rather than 'Save As PDF'.
(2) the PDF-XChange driver will display the popup error message "Invalid printer name detected!".
The upshot is that unless there is no alternative one should just stick with the default name.
