Default Critical error 2, AD error 210 (error allocating blob buffer), terminating

Hello,

I have two DWG files,, one is c. 60MB the other c. 120MB. They are apparently maps of a country. I need to convert them to shapefiles in order to use ArcIMS. When I click on either file in cad2shape it almost freezes my PC for approximately 10 minutes and then I'm presented with the error

Critical error 2, AD error 210 (error allocating blob buffer), terminating

Help please!

Tom

Hi Tom,

1. Please first make sure that you are running the latest CAD2Shape 4.0 A.10 (the 'About' dialog shows the exact version.) CAD2Shape download here.

2. If the problem still occurs with the most up to date version, we would need to obtain the DWGs from you. Either place the DWGs at some location where we can download them. Send a private message or email our Support to inform of the location. Alternatively the DWGs can be uploaded to our own FTP location. Again send a private message or email Support to get the details of the upload site.

Thanks,
Software Support

Hi Tom,

unfortunately I am not permitted to send you the DWG files since they are private property. How can we proceed now?
Without getting hold of the dwg it is very difficult to resolve this sort of problem. Things that you can try yourself:

1. If you have AutoCAD try PURGE and AUDIT to check for any errors in the drawing and reduce the size of the drawing. (Our dwgConvert 4.0 software also has PURGE and AUDIT options.)

2. Save the DWG to a lower AutoCAD version number, e.g. AutoCAD Rel 12.

3. Break the drawing into smaller sections to see if the resultant sections will translate.

4. We have posted a new version of CAD2Shape (4.0 A.11) here. A setting in CAD2Shape.INI will perform steps 1 and 2 above. You need to edit CAD2Shape.INI using a plain text editor such as Notepad and insert the entry BackConvert=12 into the [cad2shp] section. I.e.

[cad2shp]
BackConvert=12

More details on the setting can be found in the CAD2Shape User Manual 'Miscellaneous Notes-->Advanced Settings'

It may or may not solve the problem, but is probably worth a go.

best regards,
Software Support
